ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR THE PROPOSED N21 (R300) CAPE TOWN RING ROAD: NOTIFICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROCESS AND OPEN HOUSES

 

The Peninsula Expressway Consortium (Penway) is proposing a ring road around the Cape Metropolitan Area. The proposed road would be a toll road between Muizenberg and Bloubergstrand linking onto the existing R300, which will form the base for the ring road. In addition, the extension of the existing R300 (from Vanguard Drive across the Philippi Horticultural Area to Prince George Drive) would be included in the scheme.
In keeping with the Environment Conservation Act (No. 73 of 1989) and the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998), Penway appointed Chand Ecosense Joint Venture as the independent environmental consultants to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) phase on this proposed project.
The draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is available for review from 15th April until 28th May 2004, at www.peninsula-expressway.org.za and at the following libraries:

  • Durbanville
  • Grassy Park
  • Kuils River
  • Melkbosstrand
  • Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre
  • Muizenberg
  • Retreat
  • Strandfontein
  • Tokai
In addition, Open Houses will be held for Interested and Affected parties to view the results of the EIA.
These Open Houses will run from 15:00 – 19:00 and will be held as follows:
